Commodities
Precious and industrial metals, energy and agricultural futures. Spot metals come from Swissquote’s live bid/ask feed when our local price service runs, otherwise gold-api.com (near real-time, can lag by a few dollars, labelled); energy and agriculture use front-month futures prices from Yahoo Finance, which are delayed. Futures prices roll to the next contract month, which can cause small jumps.

Good to know
- Gold, silver, platinum and palladium are quoted in US dollars per troy ounce; copper per pound.
- WTI is the US crude benchmark, Brent the international one.
- Agricultural futures are quoted in US cents per bushel or pound as listed by each exchange.
Questions
What is the difference between spot gold and gold futures?
Spot is the price for immediate delivery; futures are contracts for delivery at a later date and usually trade slightly above spot because of financing and storage costs.
Why do WTI and Brent prices differ?
They are crude oils of different quality delivered in different places — WTI in Cushing, Oklahoma and Brent in the North Sea — so supply and transport costs differ.
How to use the commodities page
- Use the search box and the group filter to narrow the list; click any row for its own page with a chart, the live quote line and the analysis tabs.
- Sort by any column header. The ★ button adds a market to your watchlist (stored only in this browser).
- The TradingView panel shows a live overview where TradingView licenses the exchange; our own tables use the free sources named under each table.
- Click the clock in the header (or under any chart) to pick a time zone: Auto, UTC, the exchange’s own zone, a fixed UTC offset or any city. Every time on the site switches at once and the choice is remembered in this browser.
Where the prices come from
- Spot gold, silver, platinum and palladium use Swissquote’s live bid/ask when the local price service runs, else gold-api.com (labelled fallback).
- Oil, natural gas, copper, grains and softs are front-month futures from Yahoo Finance, about 10 minutes delayed, and are labelled as futures.
- Free commodity order books do not exist; pages use labelled proxies (tokenised gold, Hyperliquid perpetuals) or a time-at-price heatmap from real candles.
Reading the numbers
- Futures prices usually differ from spot because of storage and financing costs; we never mix the two.
- Units differ: gold and silver per troy ounce, oil per barrel, copper per pound, grains per bushel.
